MASONRY / STONE
Restoration of brickwork of walls is one of the most demanded types of work in the restoration of cultural heritage objects.
Long-term sediment of the building, atmospheric impact, groundwater, construction work, and laying of communications in the vicinity of historic buildings are doing their destructive work and, above all, this is reflected in the brickwork.
Old houses often have the following brick and masonry wall defects:
- missing part of the masonry (loss of bricks);
- defects: chips, looseness, potholes, voids;
- destruction of masonry mortar with a decrease in adhesion to bricks, up to their complete lag;
- cracks;
- efflorescence;
- biological damage: fungus, moss, mold.
We determine all masonry defects by visual inspection and instrumental examination. We find out the reasons for all deformations, and take into account whether the impact on the building of these reasons has ended. Before the restoration of the old brickwork, we carry out manual and mechanical cleaning of the damaged areas.
We carry out the restoration of brickwork indoors and on external walls using the masonry technology (re-placement, post-masonry, milling, milling and replacement). Masonry restoration involves a number of approaches, each of which we apply in the appropriate situation.
